Who we are
GreenCompare Solar (greencomparesolar.in) is an independent information and comparison platform for rooftop solar in India. For anything in this policy, write to hello@greencompare.in, a person reads it.
What we collect, and where it comes from
We are an educational platform. GreenCompare Solar does not run enquiry forms and does not ask for your name, phone number or email. You can use every tool and read every guide here without giving us any personal information at all.
Technical data. Like every website, the infrastructure that serves these pages keeps standard access logs (IP address, timestamp, pages requested) for security and reliability. If you have consented to analytics, we use privacy-respecting measurement to understand, in aggregate, which pages and tools are useful, including which outbound links to manufacturer or installer websites are clicked. This is counted anonymously and is never tied to your identity.
Your preferences. The light and dark theme switch works only inside your browser for the current visit. It is not stored, and nothing about it is sent to us.
Outbound links. When you choose to visit a manufacturer or installer website from a link here, you leave our site and their privacy practices apply. We may, in future, earn a referral fee from some partners, this never changes our comparisons or rankings, and it will always be disclosed.
Why we collect anything at all
Only to keep the site secure and to understand, anonymously and in aggregate, what is useful so we can improve it. We do not build profiles, we do not sell data, we do not run advertising trackers, and we have nothing to sell you.
Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act you can ask what we hold about you, have it corrected, have it erased, withdraw consent, and nominate someone to exercise these rights for you. Email us; we respond within seven working days. If you're unsatisfied with our answer, you may escalate to the Data Protection Board of India as provided under the Act.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, access to submissions is limited to the people who genuinely need it, and we collect the minimum we can operate with, the best protection for data is not holding it. No internet transmission is perfectly secure, and we won't pretend otherwise; what we can promise is minimal collection, limited access, and prompt deletion.
Children
This site is not directed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect children's data. If you believe a minor has submitted a form, tell us and we'll delete it.
Links to other places
We link to government portals, manufacturers and other resources. Their privacy practices are their own, this policy stops at our edge.
Changes
When this policy changes, the effective date at the top changes with it, and material changes will be noted plainly. The current version always lives at this address.
