We explain rooftop solar in plain language: what it costs, what the PM Surya Ghar subsidy actually pays, how your state's tariffs and top-ups change the maths, and how to read an installer's quote without getting burned. Our calculator models your city's real slab tariffs, not a flattering flat rate, and tells you honestly when payback is slow.
Three commitments. First, no brand ever pays to be recommended, panel, inverter and installer information on this site is never sponsored. Second, our numbers show their working: every calculator and table states its assumptions, and we mark when data was last verified. Third, we tell you when solar is a weak deal for you, low-tariff states and heavily subsidised connections sometimes mean a long payback, and our tools say so.
When you ask for a free system review, we may connect you with MNRE-empanelled installers who serve your area, and they may pay us a referral fee. That fee never changes the information on this site, the numbers in the calculator, or which installers we connect you with, matching is based on your location, system size and installer track record. You are never obliged to proceed with anyone we introduce.
Figures are compiled from MNRE and PM Surya Ghar scheme documents, CEEW and SECI publications, state DISCOM tariff orders and electricity regulatory commission filings. We review the numbers quarterly. If you spot something out of date, write to us, we correct fast.
